Microsoft doesn’t store Teams data in a dedicated folder, as many would expect it to and this can make backup complicated.
Instead, the data interlaces itself with other services across the Microsoft 365 suite. For example, if a file is sent through Teams directly to another person it’s stored within their OneDrive. If a file is sent to multiple users, it’s then stored in a SharePoint document library.

Microsoft does not backup customer data, as per its terms and conditions Microsoft is only responsible for making the service operational – not for the protection of customer data.

1. Log in to Microsoft 365 (portal.office.com) as administrator, and select Admin > Reports > Usage
2. Click Select a report at the top of the screen and select Mailbox usage.
3. This amount is the total storage used by each end-user mailbox.
Microsoft 365 OneDrive for Business
